Cooling
The waste heat of a power plant cannot only be used for heating. With an absorption refrigerator it is possible to use a heat source to provide the energy which is needed for a cooling process.
Such principles are used in air conditioning and food storage in caravans. It is also possible to cool server stations autonomously without depending on the power supply system.
Of course it would not be efficient to produce heat only to be able to run such cooling devices. But this is a great way of using heat which is produced anyway instead of emitting it into the atmosphere.
